Abstract

This article presents the development and implementation of the "KI-Lotse" microcredential in the teacher education programs at the University of Hamburg. The certificate aims to systematically prepare future mathematics teachers for the professional and ethical challenges arising from the increasing integration of artificial intelligence in education. The program fosters profession-specific AI literacy skills, emphasizes subject-didactic deepening, and incorporates interdisciplinary reflection on issues such as data protection, educational diagnostics, evaluative judgment, and ethical responsibilities. An innovative digital artifact as the final assessment allows students to demonstrate their AI competencies in practical, creative, and reflective ways. The certificate strengthens students’ academic profiles and motivation while enabling future mathematics teachers to engage with generative AI in a conscious, reflective, and professionally sound manner.​
