Abstract

The Bavarian school pilot project KI@school (2022–2027) explores the integration of generative AI in mathematics education, aiming to develop innovative learning settings, enhance teacher professionalization, and support individualized learning processes. Scientifically supported by the University of Siegen, the project centers around three research strands: analyzing teachers’ perspectives, employing AI to foster mathematical thinking styles, and teachers’ practical learning within instructional practice. Initial findings indicate teachers perceive generative AI as an opportunity to enrich differentiated instruction and actively reflect on their competencies and related challenges. This paper outlines core methodological approaches and emphasizes generative AI’s potential in educational settings.
